Tragic Death of 19-Year-Old Vermont Police Officer in High-Speed Chase

A 19-year-old rookie police officer, Jessica Ebbighausen, was killed when a fleeing suspect crashed into her vehicle during a chase in Rutland, Vermont. Ebbighausen had recently joined the Rutland City Police Department and was scheduled to start training at the Vermont Police Academy to become a full-time officer. The suspect, facing charges of grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle with death resulting and attempting to elude with death resulting, is in custody with a bail set at $500,000.
