Texas Progressive Group's Bailout Linked to Deadly Shooting Spree in Austin and San Antonio

Shane James, the suspect accused of a deadly shooting rampage in Texas, had previously been charged with assaulting family members and was bailed out by the Texas Organizing Project (TOP), a non-profit progressive group. James, who is facing multiple counts of capital murder, was charged with aggravated assault in January 2022. TOP, which advocates for liberal causes, bailed him out on misdemeanor charges. The group expressed sadness and acknowledged the need to address the implications of the tragedy. The shooting spree resulted in six deaths and multiple injuries. James is currently in custody without bond.
