Suspects named and arrested in connection to NYC gay bar crimes.

Jacob Barroso has been arrested and charged with murder, robbery, grand larceny, and conspiracy in connection to the death of Julio Ramirez, a 25-year-old social worker, who was drugged and killed after visiting a gay bar in New York City last year. Barroso was not charged in the death of John Umberger, another victim of the drugging scheme. The suspects targeted victims for financial gain and not because of their sexual orientation, according to law enforcement officials. The New York City Police Department’s Hate Crime Task Force is assisting in the investigation. The medical examiner’s office is also investigating several additional deaths in similar circumstances.
