Suspect in Fatal Waltham Crash Faces Manslaughter Charges
Peter Simon, a New Hampshire man, has been arraigned on two counts of manslaughter and armed robbery in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a Waltham police officer and a National Grid worker. Simon, who was driving without a license, allegedly veered his vehicle towards the worksite, striking the officer and the utility worker. He is also facing additional charges including failure to stop for police, larceny of a motor vehicle, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Simon had a previous history of reckless conduct and was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2009. He is being held without bail and is due back in court for a dangerousness hearing on December 14.
