Stephen Smith's Death Ruled Homicide, Family and Lawyers Speak Out.

Attorneys representing the family of Stephen Smith, a Hampton County teen found dead on the side of the road in 2015, announced that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has ruled his death as a homicide. The family launched an online fundraiser to have Smith's body independently exhumed and examined, which has raised over $80,000. The Murdaugh family name comes up several times in investigative files, but no suspects have ever been officially named in the teen's death. SLED has not yet commented on the ruling.
