St. Olaf student charged with possession of weapons cache in dorm.

A St. Olaf student, Waylon Sieber Kurts, has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit threats of violence, making terroristic threats, and conspiracy to commit theft. The charges come after items relating to a potentially violent threat were found on campus, including empty packages for high-capacity gun magazines addressed to Kurts. Police found two knives, a tactical vest, propane canisters, gun earmuffs, pistol and rifle magazines, an empty box of ammunition, and other items in Kurts' dorm room. Kurts' cellphone contained text conversations about guns, building rifles, and buying handguns from unlicensed sellers. Kurts' bail has been set at $100,000 with conditions or $200,000 without conditions.
