Sheriff's Deputy Resigns Following K-9 Partner's Death.

A Monroe County Sheriff's deputy has resigned after his K-9 partner, Kolt, died of a heat-related injury. The deputy, Detective Alex Maas, was placed on administrative leave while an investigation was launched into the dog's death. The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Vernon Co. Sheriff's Office and Juneau Co. District Attorney's Office.
