Sentencing Looms for Ex-Minneapolis Officer in George Floyd's Killing

Former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao, the last officer to face sentencing in state court for his role in the killing of George Floyd, will learn on Monday whether he will spend additional time in prison. Thao was found guilty of aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter and his actions were deemed objectively unreasonable by the judge. While Minnesota guidelines recommend a four-year sentence, Thao could receive a sentence ranging from 41 to 57 months. Thao's conviction was upheld by an appeals court, and he will serve his state and federal sentences concurrently.
