Second Mental Evaluation Ordered for UNC Chapel Hill Accused Shooter

Defense attorneys argued in court that Tailei Qi, a graduate student at UNC Chapel Hill accused of a fatal shooting on campus, is mentally unfit to stand trial. Qi was charged with first-degree murder and having a gun on an educational property after the shooting of associate professor Zijie Yan. The judge has ordered a second mental evaluation to determine if the trial can proceed. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and the gun has not been found. Qi's next court appearance is scheduled for November 14.
