A man named Michael Cassidy has been charged with 4th-degree criminal mischief after allegedly tearing down a display by The Satanic Temple inside the Iowa State Capitol. The display, which represented the group's right to religious freedom, was described by Cassidy as "extremely anti-Christian." The Satanic Temple of Iowa stated that the display was "beyond repair." Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds condemned the display but encouraged more speech as a response. The co-founder of The Satanic Temple, Lucien Greaves, had previously stated that the display would remain up for two weeks.
