SAPD officers out on bond after murder charges in fatal shooting of woman.

Three San Antonio police officers charged with murder in the shooting death of a woman inside her apartment have been released on bond. The officers were responding to a disturbance call when they encountered 46-year-old Melissa Perez, who was having a mental health crisis. After she refused to come out of her apartment, officers attempted to enter through the back patio, where Perez allegedly swung a hammer at them. All three officers opened fire, hitting Perez at least twice. The incident is under investigation by the San Antonio Police Department and the Bexar County District Attorney’s Civil Rights Division.
