Rising Gun Threats and Violence: San Diego Officers Face Increasing Danger

A San Diego Police sergeant was shot in the head and a suspect was killed during an investigation at the 4S Commons Town Center. The incident occurred when officers tried to contact the suspected vehicle thief, who then fired at least one round at the officers, striking the sergeant. Multiple officers discharged their firearms, fatally shooting the suspect. Both the sergeant and the suspect were rushed to the hospital, with the sergeant in serious but stable condition. The San Diego County sheriff's department Homicide Unit will lead the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
