Rising Concerns as Fatal Stabbings Continue on LA Metro Trains

Jalil Sosa Illera, a 27-year-old man, was fatally stabbed on a Metro train in South Los Angeles during a verbal altercation. He later died from his injuries at the hospital. The suspect, Carlos Carrillo-Martinez, turned himself in to the police and admitted to being the suspect. Aggravated assaults reported by Metro have increased over 70% compared to the same time in 2019. Illera's family mourns the loss of their beloved son, brother, and friend. Carrillo-Martinez has been booked for murder and is being held on $2 million bail.
