"Rex Heuermann Charged in 4th Gilgo Beach Serial Killing"

Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Gilgo Beach serial killings, has been charged with a fourth murder, that of Maureen Brainard-Barnes. He has already been charged with the deaths of three other women found near Gilgo Beach. He pleaded not guilty to the new charges and remains held without bail. Evidence linking him to the crimes includes DNA, cellphone data, and items found at the crime scenes that were traced back to his home. Heuermann's estranged wife and children were out of state during the killings, providing him with "unfettered time" to carry out his plan. He has not been charged in the deaths of other individuals found in the area.
