Proud Boys Trial Reveals Text Exchanges, Informant Concerns, and Undercover Agents at Jan 6 Riot.

Text exchanges between D.C. police lieutenant Shane Lamond and Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, who was arrested days before the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, show that the two were in regular contact over the prior 15 months. Tarrio shared outlines of members' plans in D.C. and elsewhere at the request of Lamond, who forwarded the information to his D.C. police command, a Virginia State Police contact, and even U.S. Capitol Police. Tarrio argues that his relationship with Lamond showed there was no Proud Boys conspiracy to oppose police or federal authority, but prosecutors say the bulk of the exchanges occurred long before the alleged conspiracy. Lamond remains under federal investigation for his exchanges with Tarrio.
