Police Officer Faces Multiple Charges Including DUI, Reckless Driving, and Assault

An off-duty Memphis Police Department officer, Verlean Washington, has been charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving after crashing into a car. Washington was driving at a high rate of speed and ignored a red arrow traffic light before colliding with a black Audi. No injuries were reported, but officers noticed slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on Washington's breath. An open vodka bottle and an empty beer can were found in her vehicle.
