Police Fail to Respond to 911 Call Reporting Hostage Situation, Resulting in Tragic Death

A woman called 911 to report her husband had been taken hostage, but police did not respond until an hour later, by which time he had been shot and killed. The Colorado Springs Police Department found two deceased adult males at the location where the woman feared her husband was being held. The police blotter said officers responded to a report of a shooting there at 2:09 p.m. The El Paso County Coroner's Office confirmed the autopsies were done Monday. The police spokesman said he couldn't comment because there was an "open and active criminal investigation" into the deaths.
