Oregon Man Receives Prison Sentence for Targeting LGBTQ+ Community in Boise

An Oregon man, Matthew Lehigh, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for a hate crime spree targeting Boise's LGBTQ community. Lehigh attempted to run over three people, including a transgender library employee and a lesbian couple, while shouting threats and slurs. He also admitted to setting fire to a pride flag and committing other acts of violence. Lehigh pleaded guilty to violating the Hate Crimes Prevention Act and will serve three years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
