Ohio's Largest Bribery Scheme: Former House Speaker Householder Sentenced to 20 Years

Former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in the largest bribery scheme in Ohio's history. Householder and ex-GOP chair Matt Borges were found guilty of felony racketeering for passing a $61 million scheme for a billion-dollar bailout, House Bill 6, at the expense of taxpayers. The judge called it the "biggest corruption case in Ohio history" and emphasized that Householder had betrayed the trust of the voters. The FBI had requested a 16-20 year sentence for Householder, while his defense attorneys argued for 12 to 18 months. Householder's sentencing comes ahead of Borges' sentencing on Friday.
