Ohio Social Worker Faces Charges for Sex with Minor and Witness Intimidation

A 24-year-old social worker in Ohio is facing charges for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old boy she was assigned to counsel. She now also faces charges of witness intimidation for allegedly threatening the boy's family. The social worker, Payton Shires, showed up at the boy's home with a gun, threatened to kill herself, and blamed the family for "ruining her life." Shires was previously employed by the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP), and she has been held on $500,000 bond. Her bond has been revoked, and she is expected to remain in custody until her next court appearance.
