Off-duty BCSO sheriff apprehends shoplifter on day off

Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen, even on his day off, caught a shoplifter in the act while shopping with his wife. He witnessed three individuals attempting to steal merchandise from a sporting goods store and confronted one of them. After a physical altercation, the sheriff apprehended the suspect with the help of another citizen. The arrested individual had prior felony warrants and a history of drug-related offenses.
