Multiple Standoffs End in Suspect Fatality in South Carolina

A 29-year-old man died after a shootout with law enforcement in a Lexington County neighborhood. The man had been seen carrying a long gun around his yard and pointing it at neighbors. After a tactical team deployed to his home to execute arrest warrants, the suspect started shooting from inside the home and continued to shoot at law enforcement robots and officers. Negotiations and shooting continued for several hours until a robot breached the bathroom door where he was barricaded, and he was found incapacitated. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division will investigate the officer-involved shooting.
