Multiple Shootouts and Standoffs in Columbia, South Carolina Result in Fatalities and Ongoing Investigations

Nine deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to a call about a man pointing a gun at a power company employee. The man barricaded himself inside his home and fired shots at the deputies, who returned fire after negotiations failed. The man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The officers who shot their weapons were identified, and the incident is under investigation by the Richland County Sheriff's Department and the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
