"Mother's 'Burn After Reading' Note to Brian Laundrie Reveals Disturbing Promises"

A letter from Brian Laundrie's mother, offering him a shovel and garbage bags if he needed to dispose of a body, was released to Gabby Petito's parents after a Florida judge denied a request from Laundrie's parents to withhold it. The letter was enclosed in an envelope that said "burn after reading." Petito's family is suing Laundrie's parents and their former attorney for emotional distress in connection with her death. Petito's body was found in Wyoming in September 2021, and the cause of her death was ruled a homicide. Laundrie's body was found in Florida in October 2021, and the FBI said he left behind writings "claiming responsibility" for Petito's death.
