'Mom Influencer' Katie Sorensen Sentenced to Jail for Viral Kidnapping Hoax

Katie Sorensen, an Instagram "mom influencer," has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for making a false report of a kidnapping attempt on her two children in 2020. Sorensen posted a video on Instagram describing the incident, which gained significant attention. However, it was later revealed that her claims were false. In addition to jail time, Sorensen has been ordered to have no social media presence, undergo warrantless search and seizure of her electronic devices, complete an implicit bias training program, and pay fines and fees. The couple falsely accused of the kidnapping attempt cooperated with the investigation, and the district attorney hopes this sentencing will provide closure for them.
