Missing Michigan mother likely found dead in river

A body similar to that of missing mother Shirani Simpson, 42, was found in the St. Joseph River in Michigan on May 15, 2023. Simpson had entered the river on May 7 to help her son who appeared to be struggling. The boy was rescued, but Simpson went missing. The body was found by the Berrien County Sheriff’s marine division and will be scientifically identified by the Kalamazoo County medical examiner’s office. The police thanked numerous agencies who assisted in the search.
