The mother, Kimberly Pijuan, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, while the suspect, Franz Vila, is charged with kidnapping, criminal sex act, unlawful imprisonment, and acting in a manner to injure a child. The girl was found unharmed at a subway station after a search involving dozens of officers. Vila and Pijuan were not close friends and had only known each other for about a month.
