Mexican Cartel Leader Arrested in California After Faking Death

Cristian Fernando Gutierrez-Ochoa, a high-ranking member of the Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) and son-in-law of its leader El Mencho, was arrested in California on charges of international drug trafficking and money laundering. Gutierrez-Ochoa allegedly faked his death to evade capture and lived under a false identity in the U.S. He is accused of coordinating the importation of large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine into the U.S. and using violence to further CJNG's activities. If convicted, he faces significant prison time.
