Mark Ridley-Thomas Receives 3+ Year Prison Sentence for Corruption

Former Los Angeles City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison for accepting benefits for his son from USC while voting in favor of county contracts that would benefit the university. The judge criticized Ridley-Thomas for not accepting responsibility or showing remorse. In addition to prison time, he must serve three years on supervised release and pay fines. Ridley-Thomas maintains his innocence and plans to appeal the conviction.
