Man with sword charged with attempted murder after charging at officer in full sprint.

A man in Massachusetts was shot by police after running at an officer with a sword over his head at full sprint. The officer had reversed his vehicle to create distance between himself and the suspect, who had blocked the road. When the suspect continued to advance while swinging the sword, the officer ordered him to stop and then opened fire when he got close enough to strike. The suspect faces attempted murder charges and remains hospitalized. The officer was not injured and is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
