"Link between Army AR-15 ammunition plant and multiple mass shootings uncovered"

The Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, originally built to supply the US military, has shifted its focus to commercial sales and is now one of the largest manufacturers of commercial AR-15 ammunition in the US. While the majority of rounds sold end up in the hands of law-abiding citizens, the facility has been linked to more than a dozen mass shootings, including the Aurora movie theater shooting, the Parkland school shooting, and the Las Vegas Strip mass shooting. The Buffalo supermarket shooter also mentioned Lake City in his manifesto, praising the rounds made there for their barrier penetration capabilities. Semiautomatic rifles like the AR-15 are increasingly used in mass shootings, with an estimated 20 million AR-style rifles in circulation in the US.
