"Life Sentence for Dallas Man Who Fatally Shot 2 Hospital Workers After Girlfriend's Birth"

Nestor Hernandez has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for fatally shooting two workers at a Dallas hospital during an argument with his girlfriend, who had just given birth. Hernandez, who was convicted of capital murder, claimed the shooting was an accident, but prosecutors argued that he went to the hospital with the intent to kill. The incident occurred after Hernandez accused his girlfriend of infidelity and threatened to harm her, himself, and anyone who entered the room. He shot and killed social worker Jacqueline Pokuaa and nurse Katie Annette Flowers. Hernandez was shot in the thigh by a hospital police officer and was on parole for aggravated robbery at the time of the shooting.
