Lawyers for Daniel Penny, who is charged with manslaughter for choking a homeless man to death on a New York City subway train, have raised over $280,000 for his legal defense fund on GiveSendGo, a Christian fundraising platform that has also supported right-wing causes such as the Jan. 6 defendants and Kyle Rittenhouse. The fund description states that the money will be used to pay for Penny's legal fees and any future civil lawsuits, with excess funds going to a mental health advocacy program in New York City. GiveSendGo co-founder Jacob Wells confirmed the site's religious philosophy but said it supports causes across the political spectrum.
