Lawyer for Nathan Carman speaks after his death in NH.

Nathan Carman, who was facing a murder-on-the-high-seas trial in connection with the death of his mother, has been found dead in his jail cell. His death was cited as a reason for federal officials dismissing an indictment against him. Carman's attorneys said they spoke with their client Wednesday night as they were preparing for his trial in October. In documents unsealed in May 2022 related to murder-on-the-high-seas charges, the indictment also alleged that Nathan Carman shot and killed his grandfather John Chakalos, 87, in Chakalos’s home in Windsor, Connecticut, in 2013.
