"Las Cruces Police Officer Faces Charges for Fatal Shooting of Woman"

A New Mexico police officer, Brad Lunsford, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter with a firearm enhancement after shooting and killing Presley Eze, an unarmed man, in the back of the head during an altercation. The incident occurred when Lunsford responded to a call about a man leaving a gas station without paying for a beer. Lunsford and another officer attempted to detain Eze, who resisted and grabbed the second officer's taser. Despite Eze not using the taser, Lunsford shot him. New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced the charges and emphasized the need for independent investigators in such cases.
