Kansas Couple Allegedly Hid Dead Man's Body for 6 Years to Collect Retirement Benefits

A Kansas couple has been charged with concealing the death of a parent in their home for six years while collecting over $215,000 in retirement benefits. Lynn and Kirk Ritter allegedly continued to receive pension and Social Security payments from the bank account of Lynn’s deceased father, Mike Carroll, who had passed away in 2016. The couple failed to report his death and kept collecting the funds until Kirk eventually called the police in 2022. Authorities found Carroll’s mummified body in the home, and the Ritters are now facing federal charges for the alleged scheme.
