Judge Allows Trial to Proceed for Father Accused of Signing Gun Application for Highland Park Shooter

A judge has ruled that the case against Robert Crimo Jr., the father of the Highland Park shooter, can proceed, rejecting arguments from his attorneys that he cannot be held responsible for his son's actions. Crimo Jr. was indicted on seven counts of reckless conduct for sponsoring his son's firearm application, which allowed him to purchase the weapon used in the shooting. The judge dismissed claims that the charges should be dropped and stated that the reckless conduct statute is not overly broad. Crimo Jr.'s trial is set for November 6, while his son's trial has yet to be scheduled.
