Intoxication Suspected in Deaths of American Couple in Mexican Hotel Room

Two American tourists were found dead in their luxury hotel room in Mexico's Baja California peninsula. Paramedics who responded to the scene reported feeling "intoxication symptoms such as hypoxia and racing heartbeat" and left the scene, taking themselves to a local hospital for treatment. The cause of death was "intoxication by substance to be determined," and there were no signs of violence or an altercation. The hotel's general manager said they do not believe the cause of death was related to any issues with the hotel's infrastructure or facilities. An investigation is ongoing.
