FBI tool expert, Douglas Halepaska, testifies in the Lori Vallow Daybell trial, describing the damage caused to Tylee Ryan's bones. Halepaska used replicas of knives, hatchets, machetes, and other tools to determine what was used in the case. He found marks consistent with a knife, hatchet, cleaver, something with serrated teeth marks, a machete, or other tools. Halepaska was unable to determine the exact tools that caused the marks but speculated they came from a bladed tool such as a machete or hatchet. Dr. Angi Christensen, an FBI forensic anthropologist, also testified about the sharp trauma on Tylee's bones, which was inconsistent with dismemberment.
