Indiana Lawmaker Jim Lucas Pleads Guilty to Drunk Driving in Quick Finish Case.

Legal experts say that Indiana State Rep. Jim Lucas' treatment by the Jackson County justice system was fairly typical for the charges he faced, but his case moved through the court unusually fast. Lucas was charged with misdemeanors of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. He received a suspended sentence and a year of probation, plus restitution to the Indiana Department of Transportation for repairs. His breathalyzer test result of .097 wasn't that high, and his plea agreement was signed and submitted to the judge less than two weeks after his arrest.
