"Gulf Drug Cartel Leader Captured in Mexico for Kidnapping and Killing Americans"

Mexican marines have captured José Alberto García Vilano, a top leader of the Gulf drug cartel, which was responsible for the kidnapping of four Americans in March 2023, resulting in the deaths of two of them. García Vilano, also known as "La Kena" and "Cyclone 19," was arrested in Nuevo Leon and is considered one of the main targets of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The Americans had crossed into Mexico for cosmetic surgery and were attacked in downtown Matamoros. The Gulf drug cartel turned over five men to police after the abduction, and a letter from the Scorpions faction condemned the violence and claimed responsibility for turning over its own members involved in the incident.
