Graduation Mass Shooting Leaves Two Dead and Many Injured in Virginia

Amari Ty-Jon Pollard, a 19-year-old from Henrico, has been charged with second-degree murder in the deaths of 18-year-old Shawn Jackson and his stepfather, 36-year-old Renzo Smith, after a mass shooting at a Richmond high school graduation ceremony. Multiple others were shot and injured, including Jackson’s 9-year-old sister. Pollard and Jackson had an ongoing dispute, and Pollard brought a gun to the graduation ceremony after an interaction with Jackson. Pollard is being held without bond and intends to hire an attorney. Police warn of the possibility of direct retaliation after the highly-charged event.
