Gilgo Beach Suspect's Wife Steals Spotlight at Court Appearance

Asa Ellerup, the wife of Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann, caused a media frenzy when she showed up at his court appearance for the first time. Ellerup arrived with a documentary crew and was seen smiling and laughing during the hearing related to the killings of at least three young women. She filed for divorce from Heuermann shortly after his capture, but her presence in court and recent visit to him in jail suggest a possible reconciliation. Heuermann, who is accused of multiple murders, appeared in court wearing a new suit but still sporting his distinctive comb-over haircut. The defense requested all investigators' notes, while the prosecution stated they had already provided a significant amount of evidence. Heuermann is due back in court on February 6.
