Fundraising and Court Appearances for Accused in Jordan Neely Subway Death

An online fundraiser on GiveSendGo has raised over $1m for Daniel Penny, a white former marine charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Jordan Neely, a Black man, who he placed in a fatal chokehold on a New York subway train. The fundraiser, created by Penny's attorneys, is to pay for his legal fees and any future civil lawsuits that may arise. Neely's death has sparked anger across the US, highlighting ongoing racial and economic inequality, and the country's lagging mental healthcare and social services. Penny has attracted support from the US right, including Florida governor Ron DeSantis.
