Fugitive Iowa Man Apprehended Following Murder Conviction

Gregory Showalter Sr., who was on trial for first-degree murder in Iowa, failed to show up for the reading of the verdict and was subsequently found guilty. He was later apprehended by authorities after cutting off his GPS monitor and turning off his cellphone. Showalter had been accused of killing his wife and dumping her body in the Des Moines River. He will be sentenced on October 16 and faces a mandatory life sentence without parole.
