Former Hopkinton Deputy Police Chief indicted for child rape during time as school resource officer.

Former deputy chief of the Hopkinton Police Department, John “Jay” Porter, has been indicted on three charges of child rape in connection with alleged assaults on a student while he was working as a school resource officer in the town's public schools system. The incidents allegedly occurred between 2004 and 2005 while the victim was a 15-year-old student. Porter is accused of assaulting the victim on “multiple occasions off school property.” Porter had been with the department since 1992 and was placed on administrative leave in August 2022.
