Father's Chase After Removing Daughter from Daycare Ends in Tragedy

Deontray Flanagan, 25, has been charged with capital murder in the death of his 2-year-old daughter, Zevaya Flanagan, after removing her from daycare during an argument with her mother and leading police on a chase. Family members reported that Deontray was physically abusing Zevaya during the chase, and she was injured from being thrown around in the car. Deontray refused to get out of the car, and law enforcement had to use a distraction device to remove his unconscious daughter. Zevaya was taken to a hospital where she died. The Harris County Sheriff's Office is conducting an internal investigation to determine whether all of its agency's policies and procedures were followed.
