Fatal Police Shooting in Pleasant Hill Under Investigation

A man identified as 25-year-old Bradley Van Heeswyk was shot and killed by an officer from the Pleasant Hill Police Department in Iowa after receiving calls about a man firing a gun. Van Heeswyk was found still shooting the gun upon police arrival. The officer, identified as Officer Steven Burroughs, took Van Heeswyk into custody and initiated life-saving techniques, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. No one else was injured in the incident. The neighborhood, typically quiet, was shocked by the incident, and neighbors expressed gratitude for the tight-knit community's response. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting an ongoing investigation.
