A search warrant has revealed new details about the high-speed crash that killed five young women in Minneapolis. The warrant seeks to take a blood sample from suspect Derrick Thompson, who is currently in jail awaiting charges. Thompson, the son of former Minnesota State Rep. John Thompson, was driving a rented Cadillac Escalade at 95 mph when he collided with a Honda Civic at an intersection. Witnesses identified Thompson as the driver, and officers found a "green leafy substance" believed to be marijuana in the car. Thompson has a history of traffic violations and was convicted of fleeing a police officer in 2017 and injuring a woman during a hit-and-run in California in 2018.
