Ex-SF fire commissioner shares video of brutal pipe attack in Marina District.

A man has been arrested and charged for assaulting former San Francisco Fire Commissioner Don Carmignani with a metal pipe in the Marina District on April 5. The assault resulted in hospitalization and surgery for Carmignani. The suspect, Garret Allen Doty, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Carmignani said the attacker was a homeless person who had set up an encampment in front of his mother’s home.
